How does it work?

  • How does the self-watering system actually work?

Inside every Thirsty Pot is a built-in moisture sensor. When your plant gets thirsty, it shines a red light onto the floor—like a little plant distress signal saying, “Hey, I’m parched over here!” No notifications, no apps, just a smart, visual reminder that it’s time to water.

  • You’ve got two easy options:

**1 - Use the water inlet** on the side—pour water in slowly until you see the red light flash on the floor. That’s your cue that the reservoir is full.
**2 - Or lift the inner pot** out (yes, it’s designed to do that) and top it up to the internal “FULL” line. Simple, clean, and no mess.

  • Yep—and this is where Thirsty Pot really flexes. Because our pots are semi-hydroponic, you can add liquid fertilizer directly into the reservoir water. Your plant will sip on those nutrients at its own pace, like a chilled green juice for roots. Just don’t overdo it—plants hate hangovers too.

  • Nope—and that’s the point. You don’t need to check your phone or download another app. When your plant’s thirsty, it literally shines a red light on the floor to let you know. Easy.

  • Totally. They’re sun-safe, splash-proof, and designed to look great whether they’re on your windowsill or your balcony jungle. Just keep in mind that the light works best indoors or shaded areas where it’s more visible.

  • Most common houseplants and herbs do great—pothos, monsteras, peace lilies, snake plants, basil, and more. If your plant has drama (looking at you, ferns), you may need to monitor it a little more closely.

  • No charging. The sensor runs on a small battery that lasts 6–12 months depending on how thirsty your plant is. When it runs low, you can replace it easily—no tools required.

  • Each Thirsty Pot includes:
    - The self-watering planter
    - Built-in moisture sensor (already installed)
    - A starter wick
    - A quick start guide that won’t bore you to death
    - A big ol’ helping of plant confidence

  • Just lift out the inner pot, rinse the reservoir with warm soapy water, and let it dry. Once in a while, give the sensor a gentle wipe. That’s it. No tech degree needed.

  • Then you’re exactly who we made this for. Thirsty Pot takes care of the hard part—hydration. You just pick a cute plant and give it some sunlight. We’ve got the rest.
